This chili is hearty and full of flavor, it is a family favorite! I usually make a HUGE batch and then bottle it in my pressure canner for quick dinners. Some of our favorites are chili dogs, served over baked potatoes or tortilla chips!
Family Favorite Chili
- 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
- 1 large onion, diced
- 1 can black beans, drained
- 2 cans kidney beans, drained
- 15 oz tomato sauce
- 2 15 oz cans diced tomatoes
- 8 oz tomato paste
- 1 tbsp minced garlic
- 1 1/2 tbsp basil
- 1 1/2 tsp cumin
- 3 tbsp chili powder
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1-2 tsp Tabasco sauce
- 1/2 – 1 tsp red pepper flakes
In a skillet brown ground beef. Add onion and garlic and cook for 3 minutes. Add to slow cooker.
Add remaining ingredients to slow cooker and cook on low for 8 hours.
Serve with cheese, green onions, and sour cream if desired, and of course cornbread (I use this recipe)!
