Sourdough Pizza

When you are craving delicious homemade pizza but don’t want to heat up your oven, this recipe is perfect on the grill!! But, you can also cook it in the oven – we love it either way!

  • 225 grams active sour dough starter
  • 300 grams warm water
  • 220 grams all-purpose flour
  • 220 grams bread flour
  • 10 grams salt

Mix all ingredients with a dough hook and then continue mixing by hand until all the flour is incorporated.

Cover the dough until it has doubled, approximately 8 hours.

Divide the dough into two equal parts and shape the dough into your desired shape (round or rectangle).

Grill Directions:

Sprinkle a large baking pan with cornmeal and place the dough onto it.

Drizzle the top with olive oil.

Place oil side down onto grill (350 degrees) and grill for about 4-5 minutes. Flip, lightly oil and continue grilling for 4-5 minutes.

Remove from grill.

Top as you wish then return the pizza to the grill (medium-low) and cook until cheese is melted and the crust is cooked through-approximately 10 minutes.

Oven Directions:

Place pizza stone in oven and preheat to 500 degrees.

Sprinkle a large baking pan with cornmeal and place the dough onto it.

Drizzle with olive oil and top as desired.

When the oven is hot, remove the stone. Carefully lift the pizza from the baking pan with a pizza peel and place on hot pizza stone.

Return the stone to hot oven and bake for 12-15 minutes until the cheese is melted and the crust starts to brown.

BBQ Chicken Pizza

  • drizzle the crust with olive oil and spread minced garlic on the top
  • BBQ sauce
  • shredded mozzarella cheese
  • shredded rotisserie chicken
  • red onion
  • bacon crumbles
  • more shredded mozzarella and fresh mozzarella
  • cilantro (garnish AFTER grill)

Pepperoni Pizza:

  • drizzle the crust with olive oil and spread minced garlic on the top
  • pizza sauce
  • shredded mozzarella cheese
  • pepperoni
  • onions
  • peppers
  • bacon crumbles
  • more shredded mozzarella cheese and fresh mozzarella
