I know, everyone has their favorite, but these really are the best! This recipe is a little sweet and savory at the same time.
The BEST Baked Beans Ever
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1/2 medium green pepper, diced
- 1 jalapeno (seeds and membrane removed), diced
- 3/4 cup bacon crumbles (I like the ones from Costco)
- 1 28 oz can pork & beans
- 1 28 oz can baked beans (any variety)
- 2 14 oz cans white beans, drained and rinsed
- 3/4 cup barbecue sauce
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp hickory liquid smoke
- 1 tbsp molasses
- 2 tbsp spicy brown mustard
Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
In a large skillet place the bacon crumbles, onions, and peppers. Cook 3-4 minutes or until onions are almost translucent.
Put all the remaining ingredients into a large dutch oven, including the cooked vegetables. Stir until well combined.
Cook for 3 hours with no lid, stirring every hour.
Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving.
The sauce will continue to thicken as the beans cool.
[…] We love to serve this pork on brioche buns with coleslaw and bbq sauce. And of course baked beans on the side (I use this recipe). […]
