Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

This meat is fall-apart tender and so flavorful!! I always line my slow cooker with a liner to make clean-up super fast and easy!

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

  • 8 lbs pork shoulder/butt
  • 1 large onion
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup barbeque sauce
  • 2 tbsp hickory liquid smoke
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp minced garlic
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • Dry rub (from this recipe)

Line a slow cooker with a liner if desired.

Chop onion and place into the bottom of the slow cooker.

Pat the pork shoulder dry and generously sprinkle the dry rub all over the meat. Place the meat on top of the onions, fat side up.

Combine all the marinade ingredients and pour into the slow cooker carefully so you don’t rinse off the dry rub.

Cover and set on low and cook for 7 hours. Turn off the slow cooker but let the meat rest for 2 hours (do not remove the lid).

Remove the meat and place on a large-rimmed baking pan.

Shred the meat.

Sprinkle with additional dry rub if desired.

Save some of the juices in the slow cooker to refresh leftovers.

We love to serve this pork on brioche buns with coleslaw and bbq sauce. And of course baked beans on the side (I use this recipe).

  1. […] This pulled pork takes a while, but you’ll be rewarded with amazing flavor!! Another bonus – you don’t need a smoker!!! Just throw it in the oven before you head to bed!!! Or if you don’t have time for this recipe – I have another delicious one that you cook in a slow cooker (see recipe here). […]
