Carmelitas

Where are my Carmelita fans?? This is my favorite recipe. Add a little drizzle of caramel on the top for a little extra decadence!!

Carmelitas

  • 1 cup flour
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 3/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup nuts, if desired
  • 3/4 cup caramel ice cream topping (I use this recipe)
  • 3 tbsp flour

Combine flour, brown sugar, salt, oatmeal, baking soda, and butter in a small bowl.

Press HALF the mixture in a greased 9×9 inch pan.

Bake at 350 for 10 minutes.

Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle with chocolate chips and nuts.

In a small bowl combine the caramel and 3 tbsp flour. Mix well.

Drizzle caramel mixture over the chocolate chips and nuts.

Sprinkle with the remaining crust mixture.

Bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

When cool, cut into bars.

If desired, drizzle with additional caramel.
