This delicious marinara sauce can be made in under an hour! It is so versatile and can be used in so many recipes I’ve posted like: sausage baked ziti, chicken parmesan, or as a pizza sauce!
Easy Marinara Sauce
- 2 14 oz cans diced tomatoes
- 2 14 oz cans tomato sauce
- 4-5 medium tomatoes, chopped
- 1 tbsp dried basil
- 1 tbsp dried oregano
- 1 tbsp garlic
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
Place all ingredients into a large pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to simmer.
Simmer for 1 hour or until desired consistency is reached.
If desired, use a stick blender to blend until smooth.
Notes:
- we like to add roasted garlic and fresh basil when serving.
- This recipe makes approximately 9 cups of sauce.
- Can be frozen and canned. Don’t add roasted garlic or basil before canning. You can follow these directions for canning tomatoes via a water bath.
