Homemade Naan Bread

Nothing compares to homemade bread!

Homemade Naan Bread

  • 1 tbsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 3 tbsp milk (I use 1 1/2 cream 1 1/2 almond)
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 2 1/2 – 3 cups flour (I like a mixture of bread and all-purpose flour)

In a small bowl mix yeast, water, and 1 tsp sugar. Let stand for 10 minutes or until it is nice and foamy.

Add the remaining sugar, eggs, milk, salt, soda, and half of the flour. Mix until combined. Add the remaining flour a little at a time until a soft dough is formed.

Knead the dough for 6-8 minutes until it is smooth. Add a little more flour if needed.

Cover with a lightweight towel and rise for about an hour or until double.

Pinch off dough about the size of a tennis ball and let rise until double, about 30 minutes.

Turn a pancake grill to 350 degrees.

Roll dough as thin as possible – about 1 foot long.

Lightly oil grill with olive oil.

Place dough on the grill and cook for about 2 minutes, or until the dough starts to bubble.

Turn dough over and cook for another 2-3 minutes.

Repeat with the remaining dough.
