The BEST Baked Beans Ever

I know, everyone has their favorite, but these really are the best! This recipe is a little sweet and savory at the same time.

The BEST Baked Beans Ever

  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1/2 medium green pepper, diced
  • 1 jalapeno (seeds and membrane removed), diced
  • 3/4 cup bacon crumbles (I like the ones from Costco)
  • 1 28 oz can pork & beans
  • 1 28 oz can baked beans (any variety)
  • 2 14 oz cans white beans, drained and rinsed
  • 3/4 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp hickory liquid smoke
  • 1 tbsp molasses
  • 2 tbsp spicy brown mustard

Preheat oven to 300 degrees.

In a large skillet place the bacon crumbles, onions, and peppers. Cook 3-4 minutes or until onions are almost translucent.

Put all the remaining ingredients into a large dutch oven, including the cooked vegetables. Stir until well combined.

Cook for 3 hours with no lid, stirring every hour.

Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving.

The sauce will continue to thicken as the beans cool.

  1. […] We love to serve this pork on brioche buns with coleslaw and bbq sauce. And of course baked beans on the side (I use this recipe). […]
